Ira Saferstein has more than
25 years experience in all facets of the mortgage market. Early
in his career, he worked in the mortgage-backed securities research
department at Merrill Lynch and moved on to trading CMOs for both
Morgan Stanley and Kidder Peabody, as well as trading mortgage
derivatives at Smith Barney. While at Kidder Peabody, Mr. Saferstein
effectively coordinated the firm’s worldwide CMO trading
and origination efforts. In this role, he was personally responsible
for the origination of over $10 billion in securities.
In 1988, Mr. Saferstein founded Broadview Funding Corporation, a private lending organization that specialized in the origination of short-term loans secured by real estate assets. Broadview subsequently became Titan Capital in 1995, and since his company’s inception Mr. Saferstein has originated over 600 loans totaling in excess of $1 billion.
Mr. Saferstein is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
